My work sits across five areas. Most engagements draw on more than one. The common thread is helping organisations that have genuinely valuable technical or research capabilities, but need strategic and commercial clarity to turn that value into something real.

Our Services

Research Commercialisation and Utilisation

For universities, CRCs, government research agencies, and research-intensive organisations that need to turn their outputs into commercial products, funded ventures, or measurable real-world impact.

This is not grant writing or IP filing. It is the harder work: figuring out who will pay for this, what the commercial structure should look like, how to find the right industry partner, and how to take a research prototype to a product someone will actually buy. I have done this end to end, including through a 70% acquisition by an ASX-listed company.

Typical work includes commercialisation strategy, spin-out business case development, multi-party IP structuring, investor and partner identification, and research impact frameworks.

Transformational Strategy

For geospatial companies, government agencies, and regulated-industry businesses that need strategic direction on how to deploy, productise, or derive more value from spatial data and capability.

I am not selling a platform or a product. I have no vendor interest. My job is to help you make better strategic decisions about technology that most of your executive team does not fully understand.

Typical work includes product strategy, technology evaluation, market analysis, and growth strategy for geospatial businesses.

Fractional Executive and Board Advisory

For smaller or mid-sized organisations in the geospatial, technology, or research sector that need executive-level strategic capacity but not a full-time hire. I work as fractional CGO, fractional CCO, or strategic adviser to boards and investment committees.

I am most useful where the organisation has the technical or operational capability and needs the commercial and strategic leadership layer.

Not available for large-scale technology delivery, implementation projects, or engagements where what is needed is a technical advisor rather than a strategic adviser.

AI Product Strategy and GTM

For companies and research organisations that have an AI capability and need to build a commercial strategy around it. Not AI strategy in the abstract, but applied AI in real industries, where the cost of getting it wrong is financial and reputational.

I have built an AI geospatial company from zero, raised capital, won awards, and deployed the product in a $6.5M multi-party program. I understand the gap between a working model and a product someone will buy.

Typical work includes product-market fit validation, go-to-market strategy, pricing and packaging, investor materials, and advisory to founders and business leaders.

Innovation Program Design and Management

For government agencies, industry bodies, and large organisations that need to design and run structured innovation programs. This is different from innovation consulting, it is the operational design of how an organisation systematically finds, funds, and converts new ideas into useful outcomes.

I have designed and run programs of this type at national scale across defence, earth observation, agriculture, and the spatial sector.

Typical work includes program architecture, stakeholder consultation design, investment governance frameworks, and impact monitoring.

What types of organisations do you work with?

I work primarily with universities, research organisations, geospatial companies, AI-focused businesses, government agencies, and mid-sized technology firms that have strong technical capabilities but need strategic and commercial direction to realise their value.

How do you tailor your strategic advisory?

Every engagement begins with understanding your specific context, capabilities, and constraints. I tailor strategy to your actual situation -whether that's commercialising research, entering a new market, or building commercial structure around a technical capability - rather than applying generic frameworks.

What outcomes can clients expect?

Clients typically gain commercial clarity, actionable strategy, structured pathways to market, and the confidence to make informed decisions. Past outcomes include successful spin-outs, acquisition, capital raises, market entry, and national-scale program design and delivery.

How are engagements typically structured?

Most engagements are structured as either fixed-scope projects or retainer-based advisory. Project engagements typically run 8-16 weeks depending on complexity. Fractional executive roles are available on a monthly retainer with a defined commitment of days per month.

What makes your approach different from other consultants?

I bring direct operating experience in research commercialisation, geospatial technology, and AI product development -including building companies, raising capital, and executing acquisitions. This is strategy informed by having done the work, not just advised on it.

How do I start an engagement?

Start with a conversation. Reach out via the contact page and describe your situation briefly. We'll discuss whether there's a fit, which service area is most relevant, and what an engagement might look like.
